"Nikki" is a play about a young girl eight-ten years of age. She has been given the responsibility to look after her baby brother. There is no sympathetic attitude for Nikki in her house. It is not taken into consideration that Nikki herself is a child and needs to be looked after than to look after. There is no movement of respite for Nikki she is deprived of her basic right of education. She yearns to play with her peers but the burden of her responsibility does not allow her any recreation. The writer makes his audience think as to why Nikki keeps cr ying the whole day and how her own family is blinded to her basic need She has to pay the penalty of being a girl.
