This play is in the style of allegoric form reflecting the formal structure of Dastan. It's a story of three princes and a princess in disguise who embark on a journey to the forest of wonder in search of the magical parrot. Their journey is full of adventures and dangerous assaults from supernatural creatures.
They finally reach their destination but instead of capturing the parrot, they themselves fall prey to the crafty and wily parrot. The characters in the play also include magician, a fairy who attempts to tempt the princes away from their destination, cannibalistic dwarfs, thieves, a witch and the parrot himself who proves to be too much for the Royals to handle once he has been freed. The play is light-hearted, allegorical expose of the ruling ideology and an educational system based on indoctrination
