There was once a country where people were forced to renounce their history, their culture their heritage. There was once a society, where people had to denounce art, humanity free-thinking; disallowed to be what were and forced to be what they were not.
There was once a grandmother who was living a double life, suppressing her past and preventing her grand daughter's future. And there was once a "Nani" who had fought to lead her life her way and had paid the price. The house where status quo reigned supreme, was thrown into turmoil. No one could resist the irresistible Nani" and a "cultural revolution" unfolded.
Written by Shahid Nadeem as a tribute to Zohra Segal and Uzra Butt, the grand old dames of Sub continent's theatre, this play portrays the drab and oppressive life of a traditional middle-class family and now the status quo is subverted by the "Nani". With Nanis like that, who needs the Red Guards.
