Staged is probably not the right expression for Itt because the play has been conceived in the round typical street theatre style with the audience on all four sides of the performers. Itt deals with exploitation of the labourers working in the brick kilns, an exploitation which has assuned diabolical proportions in the last few years. They live,marry, breed and die in shanty localities around their places of work. Entire families work in inhuman conditions for ten to twelve hours a day trying to meet unreasonable quotas at unbelievable wages of less than ten rupees a day.
Unable to make ends meet in their meager wages the poor workers turn inevitably to their tormentors the kiln owners, who are only glad to dish out loans. The workers are then caught up in a vicious circle their pathetically low income is further reduced after deduction of loan installment forcing them to seek yet more loans
